This week the designers got the visit of Maria Hatzistefanis, the founder of Rodial – the skincare and makeup brand who’s sponsoring this season of the show. She brought envelops with the challenge theme – the words on the envelops are associated with some of the brands products and with that, they have to make an high fashion look for their superhero woman. The prize is one-year products from Rodial.
The ghest judge this week was model Karolina Kurkova. After the designer’s name there’s each one inspirations. Let’s start the show!
Fabio Costa #DesignerFabio | Snake
I like this dress but I don’t really see Fabio identity in it. If they told me this was Anthony’s or Ken’s I would believe it. Neverthless, it’s so well made and so chic! He took a completely different direction on snake, with that blue print and the styled hair braid. I would wear that in an heartbeat if I’m sure if that was on the store it would sold out immediately.
Anthony Williams #DesignerAnthony | Dragon’s Blood
Anne told Anthony this could look bridal but fortunatelly she was wrong! When we hear Dragon’s Blood we immediatelly think of red or silver, and this white as perfection. This dress is so sophisticated and powerfull, I love the combination with the accessories! The sleeves are so well made and the model looks stunning – but I think this only worked because she has darker skin, on my milky skintone this would look like a crazy bride for sure. I’m glad the judges can recognize Anthony’s amazing sewing skills, every week his pieces look ready to go to any store!
Ken Laurence #DesignerKen | Super Acids
Like Alyssa, I didn’t mind the baldcap as the other judges did, because I was merely looking at the clothes! I only noticed it was a baldcap on the panel. Either way, I think it was a very good idea to show that woman with no hair can still be edgy and beautiful. And of course this has more impact on me since what happened with Jeana on America’s Next Top Model (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, click here!). Back to the clothes, I don’t think it is as stunning as the judges said – that rough finish on the sleeves don’t work for me personally, but I think it this look was very well made.
Edmond Newton #DesignerEdmond | Countouring
Isaac and Alyssa had the most different opinions: He said the cape was seen everywhere and she said that dress was seen everywhere – I agree with both. Design wise this was very poor – I was excited about his silver/black sequin but Edmond used it in a boring way. I kind of like the cape but, as stated, it’s just a black leather cape.
Merline Labissiere #DesignerMerline | Magic Gel
This is a safe look and on AllStars nobody can be safe! Predictable in all the details and I didn’t liked that Merline kind of dismissed Georgina’s advice about the seams of the dress. It’s still a beautiful dress, but it’s a work outfit not a superhero one!
Amanda Valentine #DesignerAmanda | Pink Diamond
Auf Wiedersehen – Eliminated
I’m so sad about Amanda’s elimination. First, because I think Merline dress was worst – it’s not a bad dress just something she has done a thousand times, even the sleeves are predictable by now. I think Amanda really tried this time, despite all the time management that went wrong, she came up with some complex dress – as Isaac saw, if that was more fitted on the weist it would been so much better. Georgina recalled that fabric as “curtain” and I can see that – but the major problem for me was not the weight of the fabric but that it was wrinkled, like she did not steam it at all. But at the end I think this was a good effort from Amanda.
